Hoof Conditions: Two Different Ways to Repair a Quartercrack

Since we were on the topic of quartercracks in our previous blog post (The Cause and Effect), I'd like to discuss two of the different approaches to repairing the crack.

The first method is to clean up the cracked wall, lace the crack up and acrylic over the top.  It's simple, quick and fairly easy for the hoofcare professional.

The second method is the way that I believe a quartercrack repair should be made and that is simply to follow the damage to the end, healing the damaged tissue, then patching.  I believe that without addressing the entirety of the injury, the problem is only partially resolved and will most likely return.

A good example is the following group of pictures showing the extent of a quartercrack that looked, at first glance, like a simple crack.
